My kitchen and other idols

28 Feb

The renovations carry on. We are seeing the end of the tunnel though.

On Friday, the furniture was delivered: that include our island, one workbench with the mixer bowl and an old rugged pice of furniture (my favorite! Even the smell coming from inside is old and rugged!!)

On Saturday we had to move everything from the old kitchen into the new one because on Monday they start to break down the old kitchen. That meant that we had to free an entire cupboard from the dining room, because that was going to be used in the new kitchen as our pantry, which meant a lot of reshuffle and organisation, which meant an entire saturday and part of the sunday occupied with moving out things, moving in and sore muscles by the end of the week end. But we DID it!!

The kitchen is not entirely finished – I’m missing my scullery with built-in cupboards (that’s tomorrow) – but it is so so beautiful already as is. I’m not worshipping, I know that these are only material things, but they are beautiful things. Mostly I just LOVE the conveniency of having the kitchen central to the rest of the house. I don’t need to exile myself anymore to make a sandwich for the kids or to fix a cup of coffee… it is bliss!

Here are a few more shots, so that we remember the process of things 🙂

First plan is the island, looking towards the empty-for-now scullery

That’s it for now 🙂

Ok so we seriously LOVE it! The door where the fireplace used to be TOTALLY change the way the house looks and change the house flow too! It’s seriosuly cool. I suppose the kids just run outside from the kitchen now? Now we just need to see a photo of what it looks like from the kitchen into the dining room. Feeling very sad. 😦

What did you think?
