Of mice and …baboons

30 Mar

On the weekends, while my mum and Claude were here, we took the chance to do quite a few tourists outings. The one touristic place my mum was adamant about was Cape Point. Not just because it is really beautiful, no, the story behind is that the first time she ever came to South Africa – for my wedding – marraine and her went on a bus tour to Cape Point. Her english being rudimentary, she managed to almost get lost, nearly missed the bus and had it not been for the international sign language she would have had to spend the night there in company of the baboons. Ah the baboons, another exciting attraction for my mum!

Proof in pictures, we had to stop by the side of the road because a family of baboons decided to go on a Saturday outing. She and Claude walked as close as possible to them to take a picture. Here it is, for posterity maman!!

In spite of this…
…here is my mum! Courageuse mais pas téméraire 🙂

Cape Point was nonetheless really beautiful and very hot. We even managed to coerce the kids to walk all the way up, without too much moaning, with photo pitstops on the way.

Maman et moi 🙂

Fresh at the start!

Praising the Lord for His creation! Or just acting silly for the camera 🙂

It must have been quite a climb!

We did it!

We ate at the restaurant there with a magnificent view and field mice running through the restaurant. Under normal circumstances, that would mean the end of that restaurant, but this is Cape Point where baboons steal your picnic and mice tickle your toes 🙂
